Our mission is to cultivate a lifelong love of reading and promote literacy proficiency by expanding book access.
Our vision is for all Georgia families to have access to an abundance of culturally relevant books and family routines that encourage reading for the love of reading.
Our Programs
Book Distribution Programs Across Georgia
Our flagship program is working with Little Free Library® to support the network of Little Free Library book-sharing boxes throughout Georgia.
We do this by helping Little Free Library stewards maintain and restock their libraries, collaborating with local communities and organizations to install new Little Free Libraries, and partnering with other literacy programs to distribute children’s books at community events.
Thomaston-Upson Literacy Alliance
With our local programs and partnerships expanding, For the Love of Reading, Inc. has registered the trade name Thomaston-Upson Literacy Alliance to represent us in Upson County.
Key partners include The Book Bug, Upson County Family Connection, Thomaston-Upson Schools, City of Thomaston, and Thomaston Housing Authority.
For the Love of Reading Honored with 2026 Georgia Reads Community Award

Hosted by the Georgia Council on Literacy, the award is designed to recognize the importance of community approaches that involve meaningful partnerships in achieving literacy goals. Each recipient receives $20,000 to continue and extend work in literacy improvements.
The award celebrates the work of The Book Bug with support from local organizations, including Thomaston-Upson Literacy Alliance, Upson County Family Connection, Thomaston-Upson Schools, City of Thomaston, and Thomaston Housing Authority.
