We just installed two new Little Free Libraries in Thomaston!
This one is at Thomaston Housing Authority on Lincoln Park Circle.
This one is at Farview Apartments on Avenue F.
These libraries are part of Little Free Library‘s Read in Color program partnership with Family Literacy of Georgia, Inc. and were built by Mercedes-Benz USA employees in Atlanta this spring.
We have one more Read in Color library available! Let us know where you think we should put it:
We’re at Freedom Fest 2024 today in the Kids Zone with Blazing Lazing.
The Book Bug‘s Mobile Little Free Library was filled with more than 140 books to share and we had story time and a coloring table.
We’re looking forward to attending more community events in the fall, so let us know if you have any suggestions:
Tonight we attended a screening of The Right To Read at Columbus Public Library.

The Right to Read shares the stories of a courageous activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.

We visited several Little Free Libraries in Columbus today to exchange books and report any issues back to Team LFL.
Of our 15 stops, two libraries were missing, one was badly damaged, and one we had to skip due to lack of parking near the downtown location.
When we’re exchanging books we generally we take a book and leave two but some boxes were completely empty so we left several books in those.
Most of the Little Free Libraries we visited today were sponsored by Columbus Parks & Recreation or Literacy Alliance and can be found on the Little Free Library map:
We visited Milner Community Library yesterday with our friend Mrs. Jackson from Lamar County 4-H to talk about our homeland of Australia.

We went to Sandy Springs today to the Mercedes-Benz Employee Volunteer Week Little Free Library Build Event and helped build 100 new Little Free Library book-sharing boxes. Two of these libraries will be coming to Thomaston soon!

Over the past two weeks we have been moving all of our books to our new backstock room at Silvertown Baptist Church.
We are so thankful to have the support of the community in our mission to restock the Little Free Libraries around Thomaston.
The door to the Lending Library at Park Street Park in Thomaston has been broken for several weeks. Thirteen year old, Lizzy Norton, owner and steward of The Book Bug Mobile Little Free Library in Thomaston unofficially adopted the library this week; getting permission to replace the door, decorating it with perler beads, and refilling it every few days with books and Easter surprises.
Lizzy has recently joined Upson County 4-H so she is documenting her community service time for Team LFL and 4-H.
We went to Morrow today to help with a Little Free Library Book Prep event for Family Literacy of Georgia. Hundreds of books were inventoried, labelled, and re-boxed for distribution to stewards of Read in Color libraries throughout Georgia.
