At For the Love of Reading, Inc., we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to build strong literacy skills right from the start. In Thomaston, a staggering 90% of children entering kindergarten lack the literacy and social-emotional skills they need to become successful readers. This isn’t just a statistic—it’s a call to action!

We’re proud to announce that For the Love of Reading is joining the Get Georgia Reading Campaign through our new program: Get Upson Reading with The Basics.

Get Georgia Reading is a statewide movement committed to ensuring all Georgia children are proficient readers by the end of third grade. The initiative is built on a powerful four-pillar framework and driven by data-backed strategies.

We’re also honored to share that we’ve been awarded a grant from the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy at Georgia College & State University. This support empowers us to lead a collaborative effort in Upson County, to engage families around The Basics—a set of evidence-based parenting and caregiving principles designed to support early childhood development.
